On the eve of the International Teachers' Day in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) there were summed up the results of the competition "The best teacher on ICT application in teaching practice”, held upon the IITE initiative and in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republican teacher training institute, under the name of Donskoy-II. On September 20, 2013 the first event out of the series of open workshops “Ideas. Technology. The Fourteenth session of the IITE Governing Board was held in Moscow at the Marriot Courtyard Hotel on 13-14 September 2013. Director-General of UNESCO was represented by Mr. Svein Osttveit, UNESCO Director of the Executive Office of Education Sector (EO/ED). Also the guests of honour attended the session: Mr. Amir Bilaletdinov, Deputy Secretary-General of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and Dr. Evgeniy Ugrinovich, Head of the International Department of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of the Russian Federation. On September 13, 2013, in the framework of the annual session of the UNESCO IITE Governing Board, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The agenda of the meeting was focused on discussion of the project on promotion of e-learning in the CIS countries though dissemination of massive open online courses (MOOCs). This is a new edition of the book prepared by the international experts – Mr Bent B. Andresen (Danish University of Education, Denmark) and Ms Katja van den Brink (University of Landau, Germany) – that was initially issued by UNESCO IITE in 2001. The Association of Ethnographers and Anthropologists of Russia jointly with the N.N. Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology organized the X Congress of Ethnographers and Anthropologists of Russia on 2-6 July 2013 in Moscow. The project “A Networked System of Open Indigenous Knowledge Resources for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Polar Regions” implemented by the UNESCO IITE and the UNESCO Office in Moscow was presented at the Congress section devoted to the analysis of the lifestyle of the indigenous peoples of the North. V International IT Forum "Information Society for All: Turning goals into actions" took place on 4-5 June 2013 in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Forum was organized by the Government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra and the Public Chamber of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, with the support and participation of the World Bank, UNESCO Office in Moscow, the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) and the Insitute for the Information Society.
