In the period December 4 – 7, 2012 the Fifth Seminar "Intercultural Education and globalization: current practice and trends"  of the annual cycle of the international workshops "Dialogue of Civilizations and Intercultural Cooperation"  took place in Moscow, Russian Federation,  As in previous years, the Seminar was organized by the initiative of the UNESCO Chair "International education and the integration of migrant children in school" Moscow Institute of Open Education (MIOO) in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation between Moscow and UNESCO, as well as the Plan of public interest activities of the Department of Education of Moscow in 2012. In the framework of a three-year UNESCO IITE project “ICTs in Primary Education”, the third expert meeting was organized in Moscow on 11-12 November 2012, on the eve of the IITE-2012 International Conference “ICT in education: pedagogy, educational resources and quality assurance” (Moscow, 13-14 November 2012). The 13th Session of the IITE Governing Board was held in Moscow from 15 to 16 November 2012. At the opening session, Mr. Svein Osttveit, UNESCO Director of the Executive Office Education Sector (EO/ED) on behalf of the Director-General gave a speech on the current situation in Education sector of UNESCO, presented its objectives and the means to achieve them. He informed about recent launching of Education First by the Secretary General of UN, Mr. Ban Ki Moon.  Also he stressed on the current debates on post -2015 education agenda. He acknowledged the synergies between sustainable development and UNESCO’s core constitution and the role of education in reducing inequality. Read more 13th session of the Governing Board
