A new survey “Educational Portals and Open Educational Resources in the Russian Federation” (authors: Alexey Sigalov and Alexey Skuratov) has been published by IITE. The book provides an up-to-date survey of the current level of development of educational materials and repositories of educational resources in Russia. In June 2012, the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and UNESCO published the monograph “Open Educational Resources and Change in Higher Education: Reflections from Practice”. The monograph includes the chapter “Introducing the Opportunities and Challenges of OER: The Case of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Baltic” authored by Dendev Badarch and Svetlana Knyazeva (UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education) and Andy Lane (the Open University UK). UNESCO IITE participated in the FIFTH GLOBAL STUDIES CONFERENCE, which was held at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Faculty of Global Studies, Moscow, on 20-22 June. The Global Studies conference is to be held annually in different locations around the world, each of them will be selected for its particular role in the dynamics of globalization. On 15 May 2012 the Open University of Skolkovo and the Moscow Technological Institute held YEES 2012 (Your Education Enables Success), organized in cooperation with Cisco Company at the Moscow Polytechnic Museum. Dedicated to issues of modern education, the forum was held in Moscow for the third consecutive year and became a platform for discussions and sharing experiences, presentation of best practices in the sphere of education, research business and innovative educational technologies.
