On January 17th, 2014 in the framework of interregional workshop of Russian ASPnet “UNESCO Associated Schools as a Factor Contributing to Quality Education” the delegation of 25 directors and teachers of ASPnet schools from Republic Sakha (Yakutia) has visited UNESCO IITE. On December 9-10, 2013 within the “Teachers of the Arctic” project IITE arranged the training for winners of the competition "The best teacher on ICT application in teaching practice”, held in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) upon the IITE initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic and the Republican Teacher Training Institute. On 5-6 December 2013 a delegation from Latvia visited UNESCO IITE. The delegation consisted of directors of schools, deputy director of the Education Department of the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science, Director of Science Programmes and Secretary General a.i. of the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO. Within the Memorandum of understanding established between IITE and the Government of the Sakha (Yakutiya) on December 3-4, 2013 the scientific and practical conference "Educational space of Arctic: traditions and innovations" was held in Yakutsk, the Russian Federation. The conference was organized by the Ministry of education of the Sakha (Yakutiya), Republican teacher training institute, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutiya) under the name of Donskoy-II in cooperation with IITE. Within the framework of the agreement on cooperation between  the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education and the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization "E-education for Nanotechnology Industry" (ANO «eNano») the second seminar in the series of seminars «Ideals. UNESCO IITE report was delivered by Prof.Cornu, Charman of the UNESCO IITE Governing Board to the Education Commission of the 37th session of the UNESCO General Conference on 9 November in Paris. The delegations of Latvia, the Russian Federation and others highly appreciated the work of the Institute. Many countries, such as Kenia stressed the importance of ICT in education. On November 11, 2013 UNESCO IITE organized a workshop to discuss promising trends in the development of Open Educational Resources and Massive Open Online Courses in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
