UNESCO IITE report at the General Conference

13 November 2013

UNESCO IITE report was delivered by Prof.Cornu, Charman of the UNESCO IITE Governing Board to the Education Commission of the 37th session of the UNESCO General Conference on 9 November in Paris. The delegations of Latvia, the Russian Federation and others highly appreciated the work of the Institute. Many countries, such as Kenia stressed the importance of ICT in education. UNESCO IITE took part in the UNESCO-UNEVOC regional conference “Advancing TVET for youth employability and sustainable development”

UNESCO-UNEVOC Regional Forum Europe, CIS and North America was held in Moscow, the Russian Federation, on October 28-30, 2013 and brings more than 100 delegates together to tackle greening TVET, meeting the challenges of youth unemployment and harmonizing international policy and practice. Guidelines on adaptation of the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers were published in English language

The methodological approach proposed in this document explains the most important stages of the UNESCO ICT-CFT adaptation process; suggests guidelines to determine the appropriate strategies and policies for the development of ICTs in education and for the professional development of educators; and identifies the resources needed for the successful implementation of the ICT-CFT to the local context. Guidelines on adaptation of the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers were published in Russian language.

The ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (UNESCO ICT-CFT)were developed in 2008 and improved in 2011 by the UNESCO cross-sectoral working group based on consultations with experts in the field from all world regions. The aim of the Framework is to support the UNESCO Member States in developing national (regional) policy on teachers’ ICT competence and establishing the standards in this field. The Framework has been enriched using feedback from experts and users worldwide, and has been translated into the several languages, including Russian. The Russian version of ICT-CFT was developed by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) in cooperation with national experts from the Russian Federation and was officially presented in December 2011. The competition "The Best Teacher on ICT application in Teaching Practice"

On the eve of the International Teachers' Day in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) there were summed up the results of the competition "The best teacher on ICT application in teaching practice”, held upon the IITE initiative and in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republican teacher training institute, under the name of Donskoy-II.
