IITE co-organized and participated in the international conference “Media and Information Literacy (MIL) for Knowledge Societies” that took place in Moscow on June 24-28, 2012. The conference was held within the chairmanship of Russia in the Intergovernmental Council of UNESCO Information for All Programme and was a contribution of Russia to the implementation of the Strategic Plan of the Programme.
The conference gathered policy-makers and 100 experts in the field of knowledge societies building from 40 countries. One of the key goals of the conference was to discuss the UNESCO MIL Curriculum for Teachers and the MIL Handbook developed by UNESCO IITE in cooperation with the Finnish Society on Media Education.
Such issues as instruments of MIL promotion, challenges of the localization of the UNESCO MIL Curriculum for Teachers and use of MIL Handbook in the educational process were discussed at the Round Table chaired by IITE.
