The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) organized a two-day International Conference “ICTs and Quality of Education: UNESCO ASPnet On the Way Towards a School of the Future” for 50 participants, including CIS and Baltic countries, UNESCO ASPnet national coordinators and representatives of the UNESCO ASPnet schools as well as regional ASPnet coordinators of the Russian Federation. All-Russian final of the Technologies Imagine Cup 2011, organized by Microsoft and supported by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), was held on 16 April 2011 at the Cultural Center of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. The Foundation “Skolkovo” and the Higher School of Economics were partners of the event. Besides IITE the competition was supported by the Russian Venture Company, Acer, Quarta Technologies and Intel. A workshop "Key components of the ‘Teachers of the Arctic’ Project as a basis for creation of an innovative learning environment for professional development of Arctic Region Educators” was organized by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) at the Institute for Development of Education and Teacher Training in Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russian Federation, on 28 February – 2 March 2011. UNESCO Contract Management Training was organized for the staff members of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education on the premises of the Institute on 18 February 2011. Two facilitators, Mr Dimitriy Greshnev, Administrative Officer at the UNESCO Moscow Office, and Ms Aikui Yegiazarian, Administrative Assistant at the UNESCO Moscow Office, conducted the training.  Read more Contract Management Training at IITE

The Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova has designated the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (United Kingdom) and Infocentro Foundation (Venezuela) as the laureates of the 2010 UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education. The "Third Training Workshop on Online Course Development and Quality control" of the Avicenna Virtual Campus Project was organized on 7-9 December 2010 at the Avicenna Centre of Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. The main aims of the workshop were to consolidate the development of the Avicenna Virtual Campus in Iraq (AVCI) regional network and to diversify and expand activities of the national network. IITE was invited by the European Agency for Development of Special Needs Education to participate in the European conference “Mapping the Implementation of Policy for Inclusive Education”, held in Brussels, Belgium on 2-3 December 2010. Result-Based Management (RBM) Training and System of Information on Strategies, Tasks and the Evaluation of Results (SISTER) Training were held at IITE premises from 30 November to 2 December 2010. UNESCO HQ facilitators, Ms Othilie du Souich and Ms Anne Coupez, provided UNESCO Moscow office and IITE staff with exhaustive information on key principles of RBM approach and SISTER system usage.
