Third session of the project "Public Diplomacy Corps" was opened on the premises of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on 26 September, 2011 and will work until 30 September. UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) was invited to take part in the event and meet with its participants.
The Public Diplomacy Corps project is organized by the Fund for Promotion of International Cooperation jointly with the National Youth Council of Russia, with support from the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and the Institute for Civil Society Studies.
The main objective of the event is to prepare and train members of the non-governmental organizations in Russia to build partnerships with non-governmental organizations in other countries, as well as with international and intergovernmental institutions.
The project participants are representatives of youth organizations, youth leaders and activists from different regions of Russia.
Professor Alexander Khoroshilov, UNESCO IITE Capacity development Team Leader, made a presentation of the UNESCO IITE and its main areas of activities, as well as described key priorities of UNESCO in the short term. He also emphasized the importance of work of the representatives of youth non-governmental organizations for development of education in different regions of Russia.
In their turn, the participants showed sincere interest in UNESCO IITE activities on establishment of a network of UNESCO Chairs operating in the field of ICT in education, and in the Institute's work with the UNESCO ASPNet. They supported IITE in its endeavours and shared their suggestions on further development of the Institute’s project activities in this direction.
