UNESCO IITE participated in the work of the IV All-Russian Conference “Pedagogical Discourse: Challenges of Digitalization and Transformation of Educational Practices”

On March 3-5, 2025, the IV All-Russian Conference “Pedagogical Discourse: Challenges of Digitalization and Transformation of Educational Practices” was held at the Institute of Foreign Languages of Moscow City University. The conference became an important platform for the discussion of modern challenges of digitalization and interaction between leading Russian and foreign scientists, higher school educators, schoolteachers and PhD students.

Elena Gevorkyan, Vice-Rector of Moscow City University, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education (RAE), and Elena Tareva, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages at Moscow City University, Doctor of Education, Professor, addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. They noted a high degree of digitalization of educational discursive practices and the unprecedentedly rapid integration of AI technologies into the modern educational process and educational products requiring special attention. Further work at the conference was organized in the form of three plenary sessions, thematic sections, workshops, round tables, exhibitions of educational and scientific publications.

One of the key conference events was a meeting of the Scientific Council on Comparative Pedagogy at the Department of Philosophy of Education and Theoretical Pedagogy of RAE “Axiological meanings of the teaching profession: comparative aspects”. The meeting was held under the leadership of the Chairman of the Scientific Council, RAE Acting Vice-President, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of RAE, RAE Academician, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Svetlana Ivanova. More than 50 participants took part in the meeting, i.e. members of the Scientific Council and conference participants from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Cuba. Svetlana Ivanova conveyed greetings from Mikhail Levitsky, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Philosophy of Education and Theoretical Pedagogy of RAE. In her introductory remarks she spoke about the importance of comparative research in the modern context.

The issues related to the expert nature of pedagogical activity (Professor G. Sorina), existing research indicators in comparative pedagogy (Professor E. Neborsky), use of axiological approach in optimizing the teacher workload in foreign countries (Professor T. Bokova), etc., were considered during the section meeting. Oksana Chigisheva, Programme Specialist of the Unit of Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials at UNESCO IITE, Doctor of Education, Associate Professor delivered a presentation “Ethics of using Artificial Intelligence in the professional work of teachers: UNESCO recommendations”. She analysed the key UNESCO documents in this area, generalized and presented the guidelines for the correct use of generative AI by the teachers for educational and research purposes. The future areas of work related to the comparative study of the impact of digitalization and AI technologies on the education systems around the world were also identified at the meeting.
