UNESCO IITE co-organised 2025 AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit in Shenzhen

The 2025 AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit, held on May 24, 2025, in Shenzhen (China), brought together educators, policymakers, and tech leaders to explore the revolutionary role of AI in reshaping global higher education. The event co-organised by UNESCO IITE and Huawei Technologies was a highlight of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Global Final, reinforcing the partners’ commitment to fostering digital talent and innovation in education.

The Summit focused on exploring the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence brings to higher education and on how AI can be used to develop the talent needed for the digital and intelligent economies, with attendees sharing best practices in industry-education collaboration.

The Summit gathered more than 200 participants including officials from ministries of education, heads of higher education institutions, educators, representatives of IT companies and international experts from different corners of the world. The Summit was opened with the speeches of Mr. Robin Li, Director of Huawei Education and Healthcare Business Department, and Mr. Frank Huang, CTO of the Education Industry at Huawei Global Public Sector BU. Ms. Tatiana Murovana (UNESCO IITE) delivered the keynote speech on “Digital Reshaping Education: UNESCO’s Vision and Actions” including introduction to UNESCO guiding principles, documents and activities on supporting the use of AI and other digital technologies in education, as well as presentation of the achievements of the UNESCO IITE-Huawei joint projects.

Summit agenda also included the series of practice sharing sessions and the official launches of AI Capability of the Huawei ICT Academy Intelligent Platform and Huawei ICT Academy Courses.
