The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) organized a two-day International Conference “ICTs and Quality of Education: UNESCO ASPnet On the Way Towards a School of the Future” for 50 participants, including CIS and Baltic countries, UNESCO ASPnet national coordinators and representatives of the UNESCO ASPnet schools as well as regional ASPnet coordinators of the Russian Federation.
The Conference took place in Kazan, Russian Federation, on April 26-27, 2011 and was organized in collaboration between UNESCO IITE, UNESCO Moscow Office for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation, the University of Management “TISBI” (Kazan, Russian Federation), UNESCO Chair in Training and Retraining of Specialists under Market Economy Conditions, National Coordination Center of the UNESCO Associated Schools of the Russian Federation, Cisco Systems, Inc.
The main goals of the Conference were:
- to define and assess a role of UNESCO ASPnet schools in an integration of the principles, values and best practices of sustainable development into education and use of ICTs;
- to discuss actual problems of education quality improvement at the UNESCO ASPnet schools by implementation of the innovative educational technologies and state-of-the-art ICTs in the framework of a “smart school of the future” concept;
- to extend and distribute among the UNESCO ASPnet schools of CIS and Baltic countries of an advanced experience of ICTs application within the framework of implementation of a “smart school of the future” concept;
- to develop the constructive decisions and to define of concrete actions on creation of conditions for effective usage of ICTs at the UNESCO ASPnet schools corresponding to requirements of an inclusive society of knowledge;
- to expand a partnership of UNESCO ASPnet schools for their sustainable development.
The Conference consisted of
two plenary sessions:
- “The Role ofASPnet Schools in an integration of the principles, values and best practices of sustainable development into education and use of ICTs” and
-
“Quality of education in ASPnet Schools: impact of innovative educational technologies and ICTs”
three thematic sections:
- “Unified information-education-cultural and administrative environment of SMART School as a Platform for Sustainable Development of ASPnet Schools”
- “Quality of education in ASPnet Schools: impact of innovative educational technologies and ICTs” and
- “Unified information-education-cultural and administrative environment of SMART School as a Platform for Sustainable Development of ASPnet Schools”.
