On 23 May 2019, UNESCO IITE took part in a special meeting of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO. The event, organized on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the entry of the Republic of Belarus into UNESCO, was held in the National Library of Belarus in Minsk.
Heads of the authorities of the Republic of Belarus and members of the Belarus National Commission for UNESCO, representatives in the field of culture, science and education, public organizations and the media, as well as foreign representatives were invited to participate in the special meeting.
Mr. Tao Zhan, Director of UNESCO IITE, sent his greetings to the participants of the meeting in which he thanked the members of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO, ministries and government agencies of the Republic, universities, research centers and public organizations for participation in joint activities, and noted high professionalism and creative potential of the Belarusian partners. “Long-term and fruitful cooperation has become possible by the active engagement of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO, which serves as a link and catalyst for dialogue and cooperation between UNESCO and the Republic’s various organizations and society,” – noted in the greeting which was read out during the event by Ms. Tatiana Murovana, UNESCO IITE Program Specialist.
At the event, the participants were presented with the virtual project “UNESCO and Belarus: Milestones of Cooperation” – the online resource revealing the most important areas of cooperation of the country with the international organization, and the exhibition “Belarus – UNESCO: 65 years of successful cooperation”.
The systemic and multifaceted cooperation of UNESCO IITE, UNESCO Moscow Office and the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO continues for 20 years, and covers such areas as digitization of the collections of the Republic cultural heritage, development of UN Development Assistance Frameworks, organization of joint national and international events on promoting the use of ICT in education, promotion of the healthy lifestyle culture and open educational resources, parents’ literacy in parent-child relations and risk behaviour prevention, continuous professional education of persons with disabilities and teacher professional development.
