UNESCO IITE participated in the IV Congress of Teachers and Educators from CIS countries

More than 400 policy makers, educators, science and culture stakeholders from eight CIS countries met at the IV Congress of Teachers and Educators from the Commonwealth of Independent States held on October 3-4, 2016 in Moscow. The main subject of the Congress was innovations of the modern educational environment of CIS countries aimed at increasing the quality and access to education.

UNESCO IITE participated in the work of two Congress sessions. Svetlana Knyazeva, Head of the Digital Pedagogics and Learning Materials Section, made a presentation on the challenges and opportunities in Open Educational Resources at the session “Open Education”. Natalia Amelina, UNESCO IITE Programme Specialist, talked on emerging ICTs for learning and their role in social integration at the session “Education for Children with Disabilities as the First Step of Social Mobility”.

During the course of the Congress, participants from CIS countries considered the ways of upgrading and developing preschool education, revamping school education and inclusive education. They discussed today’s challenges in the field of teacher training and the technical and vocational education and training for the professions that are in demand at the labour market. Opportunities for promoting cooperation, in particular in the areas of upbringing and informal education, were deliberated on at the highest level.

The Congress adopted a resolution including recommendation and proposals for further promotion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the CIS countries in the field of education.
