On 27 April 2016, UNESCO IITE held a master-class "Classroom of the 21st century: Selecting and using appropriate assistive technologies for students with disabilities".
During this event, the following issues were raised: providing access to education and information environment for students with disabilities, including students with musculoskeletal disorders, disorders of speech and communication, and learning difficulties. The speaker, expert in the field of assistive technologies Mr. Paul Thompson, AbleNet, Inc. representative covered the subject of the main stages of the integration of assistive technology in inclusive education and the issues of selection and use of technologies in accordance with the individual needs of students. Paul Thompson shared with the attendees of the master-class the experience of foreign countries in the use of modern high-tech assistive technologies in order to ensure access to information and educational materials for students with disabilities.
