Launch of the "Teachers of the Arctic" flagship project

Within the “Teacher of the Arctic” project, the Year of the Teacher, with support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and participation of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education the Inter-regional research and practice conference “Educational space of Arctic: development through dialog and cooperation” will be held in Yakutsk city on the 3-6 of August 2010.

The objectives of the conference are the following: development of the professional capacity of teachers who lives in the arctic regions, expansion and reinforcement of the inter-regional and international cooperation and of the partnership between government and non-government organizations regarding educational issues in the Arctic.

Launch of the joint project “Teachers of the Arctic”, carried out by UNESCO and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), is planned to take place at the conference.

Work streams of the conference.

  • Informational and educational space of peoples of the Arctic.
  • Modern teacher as an education development factor.
  • Cooperation in primary school education area in circumpolar zone.
  • Workshops, project seminars.

Financial support: the State Budget of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), extrabudgetary funds.
