On 5 July, UNESCO IITE in cooperation with the Moldova Blind Union Central Board and ITU Regional Office for CIS held the training seminar “ICT in education of persons with visual impairments”. The event took place in the Moldova Blind Union Rehabilitation Center located in Chisinau.
UNESCO IITE experts Mr. Pavel Osipov and Mr. Sergey Fleytin, presented to seminar participants the modern assistive technologies (hard- and software solutions) used in education and social rehabilitation of blind and partially sighted persons. The event gathered 25 specialists from Moldavian pre-primary, secondary and tertiary institutions working with visually impaired persons. The participants learned about portable and standard electronic video magnifiers, displays and Braille printers, and discussed the development and use of educational materials for students with visual impairments based on the application of modern ICT tools.
