OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) calls for applications from qualified individuals to organize two webinars to promote the innovative use of open badges and open e-assessment technologies and tools.
Background and context
The consultancy is carried out within the project ‘Promoting ICT Capacity Building and Open Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies’ aimed to foster digital transformation of education for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 and implemented jointly by UNESCO IITE and Shanghai Open University.
The rapid advancement and widespread adoption of AI and digital technologies are transforming the landscape of education. Traditional strategies and practices for assessing, recognizing and validating learning outcomes are being reshaped by technology-driven solutions. Open badges and open e-assessment technologies and tools are gaining recognition as effective methods to support formal education and lifelong learning, enabling more personalized and flexible pathways, fostering competency-based learning, and empowering individuals to continuously acquire and demonstrate new skills throughout their careers. These innovations also enhance learner motivation and contribute to greater portability and visibility of credentials across institutions and labor markets.
To promote the innovative use of open badges and open e-assessment technologies and tools and foster their wider adoption among higher education stakeholders, UNESCO IITE initiated organizing two webinars. The webinars are expected to address approaches to the design and implementation of assessment and credentialing using digital technologies and tools and to showcase promising practices across diverse higher education contexts.
