International Seminar Live Streaming on Digital Transformation Reshaping Lifelong Learning for All (Registration till 19 April)
Background
The United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development put forward the goal for education to be achieved by 2030 – Sustainable Development Goal 4, or SDG 4: ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. In his report Our Common Agenda, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged formal recognition of a universal entitlement to lifelong learning and reskilling, translated into practice through legislation, policy and effective lifelong learning systems to accelerate progress towards the achievement of SDG 4. The UNESCO Futures of Education report clarifies that ensuring the right to quality education throughout life is one of the fundamental principles for future education.
In this context, the Secretariat of the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE), the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UNESCO UIL) and Shanghai Open University will co-organize an international seminar on lifelong learning for all in Shanghai, China 20 April 2023. Under the theme “Digital Transformation Reshaping Lifelong Learning for All”, the seminar is a follow-up action to the TES and aims to convene debates and foster knowledge sharing on how digital transformation reshapes the form and content of lifelong education for all, and how to improve the relevance, inclusiveness and quality of lifelong education for all in the context of digital transformation.
