Huawei ICT Competition Regional Final 2024-2025 Middle East & Central Asia was co-organised by the Huawei Middle East & Central Asia and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education on December 16-18, 2024, in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The event welcomed participation from 14+ countries: Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Oman, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Lebanon, and the UAE. This competition provided young talents with an exceptional opportunity to explore ICT innovations, with top performers advancing to the global competition in China. With over 500 students from 150 universities across 49 countries, this event showcases commitment of Huawei and UNESCO IITE to advancing ICT skills on a global scale.
Mr. Tao Zhan, director of UNESCO IITE, presented a keynote speech at the event. He shared his appreciation for longstanding collaboration of the UNESCO Institute with Huawei and celebrated their joint commitment for creating opportunities for tech talent. Ms. Tatiana Murovana, UNESCO IITE programme specialist, was invited to contribute to the event as a judge for the final round of the Huawei ME&CA Innovation Competition among students.
The ICT Competition Regional Final 2024-2025 Middle East & Central Asia significantly amplified the mission of both Huawei and UNESCO IITE to nurture the next generation of professionals with profound ICT skills, and offered an opportunity to present the results of the project “AI Capacity Building in Arabic-speaking Countries and Promoting ICT Education in Central Asia” to the Saudi government and broader society, reinforcing its commitment to equity, quality education, and sustainable development.
