Head a.i. of UNESCO IITE prof. Alexander Khoroshilov visited the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between UNESCO Institute for information Technologies in Education (IITE) and the Government of Sakha Republic (Yakutia). The signing ceremony was held on 29 of January 2016 in Yakutsk (Sakha Republic).
The Memorandum strengthens a long-term cooperation between UNESCO IITE and the Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and facilitates the implementation of UNESCO’s and other UN Agencies’ initiatives in the sphere of education. Joint projects and initiatives will provide equal access to quality education and lifelong learning for all in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), especially for its Arctic regions, and will help building the sustainable innovative system of educators professional development of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
Among priorities of cooperation between UNESCO IITE and the Government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) are building the sustainable innovative system of educators’ professional development and improving the education of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) by creating new educational programs and facilitating to form effective regional strategy. The work will be also focused on training, re-training and professional development of teachers based on active use of ICT, innovative pedagogical methodology, open educational resources and mobile technologies as well as developing innovative methodology of inclusive education for children and scientific and engineering education for youth, projects “Music for all” and “International Arctic School”.
Together with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Mr. Alexander Solovyov, the Minister of Education Ms. Feodosia Gabysheva, the meeting was attended by the Head a.i. of UNESCO IITE prof. Alexander Khoroshilov, the Rector of the Institute for Education Development of the city of Yaroslavl Ms. Angelina Zolotareva, the Deputy Director on educational work of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools of Astana city of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Sabyrzhan Saduakasov.
During this visit to Yakutia, prof. Alexander Khoroshilov attended the public presentation of Report of the Minister of Education of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Ms. Feodosia Gabysheva concerning activities of the Ministry, which was held on 27 January 2016. On 28 January, prof. Alexander Khoroshilov took part in the meeting of the Head of Republic Sakha (Yakutia) Mr. Egor Borisov with teachers where the quality education was discussed. In his speech, prof. Alexander Khoroshilov highlighted the significance of the cooperation between UNESCO IITE and the Government and the Ministry of Education of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) that has been successfully developed for many years. The perspectives of effective cooperation are strengthened by this positive experience of joint work and resolution of problems in the sphere of professional development of educators based on the use of ICT in education within the framework of a joint “Teachers of the Arctic” project.
