In commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of UNESCO, the Secretariat of the Organization held a quiz, which included 70 questions on the history of UNESCO. Participants of the quiz could demonstrate their knowledge by answering questions such as: In which country the First National Commission for UNESCO was established? Who of the UNESCO staff was awarded the Nobel Prize? What was the first UNESCO programme? What animals are admitted to enter the UNESCO building?
By the end of 2015 the results of the contest were summed up and the winner was announced: Ms. Yulia Plakhutina, staff member of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE), who provided correct answers to 96% of the questions. The winner was awarded a prize – bronze statuette "Tree of Peace", a reduced model of the sculpture created by "Artist of UNESCO for Peace" Ms.Hedva Ser as the symbol of tolerance, peace and understanding between peoples (the monuments "Tree of Peace" are open in many countries of the world).
