AICT 2011 Conference

UNESCO IITE was one of co-organizers of the 5th International Conference on Application of Information and Communication Technologies (AICT2011 Conference) held in Azerbaijan, Baku, 12-14 October 2011 at Qafkas University, Baku State University and Institute of Information Technologies.

The other co-organizes were Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan, TIKA – Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency, Qafqaz University, Baku State University, Institute of Information Technology of ANAS, Tashkent University of Information Technology in co-operation with IEEE ComSoc Turkey Chapter and Uzbekistan IEEE Regional Chapter technically co-sponsored by Institute of Electrical and Electrical Engineering (IEEE).

UNESO IITE a.i. Director Mr. Dendev Badarch and UNESCO IITE National Programme Offficer professor Alexander Khoroshilov took part in Plenary sessions and Sections of the Conference. Mr. Badarch has made a Welcome Speech and Keynote Speech "Digital Natives in a Knowledge Society: Emerging technologies require new competencies of teachers and learners". Prof. Khoroshilov was a co-chair of section “ ICT in Education,Research and  Science” where he delivered a keynote speech “UNESCO IITE On a Way Towards Knowledge Society”.

AICT2011 has offered oral, poster sessions, keynote speeches, tutorials and, professional meetings. Submitted papers covered state-of-the-art technologies, theoretical concepts, standards, products implementation, ongoing research projects as well as application issues of the ICT. AICT2011 was joined by hundreds of participants from several countries including Azebaijan, Canada, China, Finland, France, Georgia, India, Iran, Portugal,Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and other countries. AICT2011 topics included, but were not limited to, the following research and development areas/fields (more than 80 topics):

  • Information Science and Application
  • Communication, network and hardware
  • ICT in Business Administration, Finance and Economy
  • ICT in Governance and Government Policy Making
  • ICT in Medicine and Health Care
  • ICT in Education, Research and Science
  • ICT in Humanities and Social Sciences

The AICT2011 aimed at attracting both researchers from academic and industrial institutions and practitioners from industry. Researchers, practitioners and distinguished speakers were invited to submit a paper and/or to make proposals of original research speeches addressing business and technical issues, challenges, solutions, and technologies in building applications, complete solutions and ICT-based services. All papers/proposals were peer-reviewed by the members of the international program committee. The AICT2011 International Conference became a forum which broght together business people, researchers, scientists, software architects, and industry professionals to discuss innovative ideas and diverse topics on next generation of information technologies and services.
