The Conference “Promotion of intercultural dialogue and preservation of cultural heritage by UNESCO Clubs” was held within the framework of the Executive Board of the European Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations on 25-26 April 2017 in Yekaterinburg, Russia. The event was organized by the Ural-Siberian Federation of UNESCO Clubs as part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs and the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO Clubs movement in the Urals.
The Conference opened on April 25 with welcome speeches by the President of the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs Mr. Dhirendra Bhatnagar, who emphasized on the role of UNESCO Clubs in disseminating the ideals and principles of UNESCO, and Ms. Elena Tarasova, programme as sistant of UNESCO IITE who reminded of the importance of promotion the best practices of preserving cultural heritage. Following the presentations of participants from national UNESCO clubs presenting their programmes, there was an open discussion focused on the importance of cultural legacy for the development of the civilization. The role of UNESCO clubs, public association and volunteering were also reviewed at the panel. On April 26, a round table dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the World Movement of UNESCO Clubs was held. Ms. Elena Tarasova presented the programmes and activities of the Institute to the participants – representatives of UNESCO Clubs movement in Russia.
