IITE-IFESCCO agreement on promotion of ICTs in TVET in CIS

On 25 May 2010 in IFESCCO Headquarters in Moscow Mr Dendev Badarch, Acting Director of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), and Mr Armen Smbatyan, Executive Director of the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO), signed the agreement on joint implementation of the project aimed at promoting the use of ICTs in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

Quality ICT-enhanced TVET programmes play an important role in improvement of education systems of CIS. They enable people to acquire knowledge and skills, meet the demands of the world of work, expand employment opportunities, and prepare to life in present-day knowledge society.

The major objective of the project is to increase capacities of TVET by using ICTs in CIS countries based on the UNESCO normative documents on TVET and ILO recommendations on Technical and Vocational Education. The project is intended to enhance the interaction among the Ministries of Education of the CIS Member States, educational and governmental institutions, TVET establishments and other stakeholders.

Within the project a comparative study will be conducted on the state-of-the-art, challenges and perspectives of ICT use in TVET in CIS States. A part of the survey will be the analyses of policy, national experience and best practices on ICTs in TVET in the region. The study will result in recommendations on the use of ICTs in TVET in the CIS countries and Ukraine, which will be presented at the Conference of the CIS Ministers of Education.
