The manual presents modules for peer education on topical issues of healthy lifestyles, gender culture, reproductive health, responsible sexual behavior, HIV and STI prevention, prevention of alcohol, tobacco, substance use, safe and responsible behavior of adolescents and young people. In addition, it contains methodological guidelines for teachers as well as volunteers conducting health education classes with adolescents and young people.
The creation and release of the first edition of this manual in 2015 were carried out with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the Republic of Belarus and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The second edition was carried out in 2019 with the support of UNFPA for free distribution among teachers participating in the project “Building the capacity of educators to promote a healthy lifestyle and HIV prevention among students of secondary education institutions of the Republic Belarus,” and volunteers. The project is implemented by the Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs together with the Minsk City Institute for the Development of Education with the support of UNESCO IITE, the United Nations Population Fund, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, and the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO.
