Open dialogue about HIV at the Moscow State University as a part of All-Russian Action “Stop HIV/AIDS” 

An open dialogue on HIV prevention issues among children and youth «Knowledge – responsibility – health» took place at the Medical Science and Research Center of the Lomonosov Moscow State University on November 30, 2016. The meeting was organized as a part of the nationwide action «Stop HIV/AIDS» to markthe World AIDS Day.
Ms. Svetlana Medvedeva, the President of the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives, Ms. Olga Vasilieva, the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Ms. Veronika Skvortsova, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Mr. Victor Sadovnichy, the President of the Russian Union of Rectors, Ms. Anna Popova, the head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), Mr. Vinay Saldanha, UNAIDS Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Mr. Tigran Yepoyan, UNESCO Regional HIV and health education advisor, Archpriest Dmitry Roshchin, as well as representatives of youth organizations, schools and parent community have participated in the meeting.

Participants of the meeting had a chance to watch an educational video about HIV produced under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Rospotrebnadzor and the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives. In the video Mr. Sergei Brilev, a famous Russian TV presenter and journalist, together with students talks about HIV and AIDS, ways of HIV transmission, HIV prevention and treatment. The educational video is aimed at students of technical and vocational education institutions, high-school students, cadet corps students, as well as those who study in educational organizations working under the authority of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

On December 1, World AIDS Day, a number of seminars on HIV prevention issues has been held in the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Ms. Larisa Glazirina, the Vice-rector for student affairs of the South Ural State Humanitarian Pedagogical University, talked on how to train educational organizations for creating caring, supportive and inclusive educational environment for children living with or affected by HIV and providing them with equal educational opportunities. Ms. Anna Zagainova, the Head of Resource Center Technical Support Group on HIV and TB of the Russian Red Cross, held a master class on delivering trainings aimed at prevention and elimination of HIV-related stigma and discrimination in educational settings (towards children and educators, living with or affected by HIV).
