The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) calls for applications from qualified candidates to develop educational content for the English-language self-paced online training course for higher education teachers on “AI and Creative Thinking Development in Higher Education”.
The consultancy is carried out within the project “Promoting ICT Capacity Building and Open Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies” aimed to foster digital transformation of education for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 and implemented jointly by UNESCO IITE and Shanghai Open University. The aim of the online training course is to enhance educators’ understanding and application of AI in fostering creativity and innovation in higher education settings. The training course should provide a comprehensive understanding of how AI technologies are impacting creative thinking, strategies and methods for ethical and critical integrating AI tools to stimulate creativity and innovation in students and to guide them in an AI-driven world, emphasizing adaptability and lifelong learning, and insights and techniques to creative use of AI in driving teachers’ lifelong professional learning. The training course content should be focused on classroom transformation in the context of digitalization including human-computer collaborative intelligent teaching models and personalized adaptive learning methods.
WORK ASSIGNMENT
Under the direct supervision of UNESCO IITE, the individual consultant shall perform the following tasks:
- Develop the outline of the online training course including the following information:
- Course Title.
- Course Description: A concise course overview (word limit of 1,000 words). The description should clearly explain the course objectives, content, and expected outcomes.
- Learning Guide: A learning guide or orientation for students including recommended study methods, course structure, and key resources (word limit of 500 words).
- Assessment Method: A clear explanation of the evaluation methods for the course, including types of assessments and grading criteria (word limit of 500 words).
- Instructor Information: Information about the course instructor(s), including their qualifications and teaching experience (word limit of 500 words).
- Develop educational content for self-paced online training course in English with an overall duration of 10 hours on integrating AI assistants and chatbots in higher education. The training course shall include structured multimedia learning materials with practice-oriented examples, tutorials, learning support materials, and appropriate formative and summative assessment. The video content of the training course should include:

- In-course video explanation providing deeper insights or interpretation of the course material.
- Pre- and post-module video content reinforcing key concepts delivered within each module (introduction and conclusions).
- Elective video materials extending the learning experience.

- Assessment and Evaluation Tools:
- The platform supports both formative and summative assessments, including quizzes, assignments, and comprehensive tests.
- Quizzes are available in various formats, such as multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions.
- Students’ progress is tracked based on their engagement with learning materials, ensuring a structured learning experience.
- Interactivity and Learning Features:
- Video Learning: Students watch course videos, and their viewing progress is monitored. Completion scores are assigned based on the percentage of the video watched.
- Assignments: The platform allows students to submit assignments multiple times, enabling them to improve their scores through continuous learning.
- Comprehensive Tests: Upon completing the video lessons and assignments, students take a final test to assess their overall understanding of the course.
III. Provide consultative support to UNESCO IITE and Shanghai Open University on uploading the educational content developed to the SOU e-learning platform.
The consultancy is home based.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in education technology, pedagogics, pedagogical design or a related discipline. PhD is advantageous.
Work experience
At least five years of relevant experience in teacher professional development, e-learning or related fields, with a proven track record in developing online training courses.
Languages
Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
