Individual consultancy: collection of materials and analytical report on teachers` AI competence frameworks

The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) is seeking an individual consultant to compile a collection of materials and develop an analytical report on teachers` AI competence frameworks.

The activity is conducted within the project ‘Promoting ICT Capacity Building and Open Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies’ implemented jointly by UNESCO IITE and Shanghai Open University and aimed to improve teachers` digital literacy, support digital transformation of education and foster the use of AI in education.

Scope of work

The individual consultant shall undertake the following tasks:

  1. Conduct desk research and review publications and policy documents on AI literacy of teachers and AI competence frameworks.
  2. Identify a number of teachers` frameworks (incl. professional qualification frameworks for teachers at international, national and institutional levels; professional standards for teachers, etc.).
  3. Compile a collection of materials on teachers’ AI competence frameworks in the form of a compendium with brief summary of each material.
  4. Analyze teachers’ frameworks in terms of various aspects of AI literacy, implementation scenarios, approaches to evaluation/assessment of AI competence levels and summarize the research results in a draft report.
  5. Amend the report by the analysis of relevant continuing professional development programmes for teachers in the field of AI and develop recommendations on the design of teachers` AI competence frameworks.
  6. Finalize the analytical report based on the feedback provided by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education and Shanghai Open University.

  • Detailed work plan.
  • Collection of materials.
  • Analytical report on teachers’ AI competence frameworks.
Candidate profile
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in the field of education, social sciences, pedagogy, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting research in the field of ICT and AI in education, teachers` competence frameworks.
  • Strong data-processing and analysis skills.
  • Proven capacity to produce high-quality analytical reports.
  • Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English.
Timeline

The consultancy will take place between August 2024 and April 2025.
