About the Forum
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when schools all around the world are shifting towards online education, the issue of children protection online is becoming more relevant. Therefore, the Forum on Child Online Protection for CIS Region, co-organized by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and UNESCO IITE, aims to contribute wider presentation to the CIS Region and discussion with ITU Members of new Guidelines on Child Online Protection (COP) for policy makers, industry, parents and educators, as well as for children. The Forum, in this regard, is addressed to representatives of ministries, regulators, telecommunication operators and equipment manufacturers, software developers, universities and general education institutions, research and development institutes, organizations of UN System, and other stakeholders from ITU Member States, Sector Members, and Associates.
The online dialogue will focus on the actual usage and implementation of the COP Guidelines in the national and regional contexts and will create the opportunity for discussion on approaches, policies, and existing practice in the field of child online protection.
The Forum programme
Session 1. Global Activities on Child Online Protection
The session will include a presentation of the new ITU Guidelines for Child Online Protection.
Session 2. Regional Perspective and Country Experiences: Policy and Industry recommendations
During the session, representatives from communication administrations, businesses and international organizations will highlight their work on Child Online Protection.
Session 3. Regional Perspective and Country Experiences: Parents, Educators and Children
UNESCO IITE will moderate this session. The discussion will focus on the application of the updated ITU COP Guidelines for parents, teachers and children. An updated “Distance Learning Course for the Safe Use of Internet Resources” in Russian language, elaborated by the ITU Regional Office in cooperation with the A.S. Popov Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications, will also be presented.
The Forum will be paperless. All materials of the Forum will be available on the ITU website.
