The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) invites applications for a home-based individual consultant position to review cases and digital technologies/tools related to digital learning platforms (national and international), to analyze trends in digital learning platforms, and to develop an analytical report and guidelines/recommendations.
The contract is established within the project “Promoting ICT Capacity Building and Open Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies” jointly implemented by UNESCO IITE and Shanghai Open University. The project aims to promote open education and community learning through digital technologies, sharpen teachers’ digital literacy to align with the latest developments in artificial intelligence, enhance digital inclusion and advance digital transformation of education.
Work assignment
Under the supervision of the Chief of the Unit of Digital Pedagogy and Learning Materials (UNESCO IITE), the individual consultant will undertake the following assignments:
- Conduct desk research to explore the emerging trends in digital learning platforms (DLP) and digital technologies and tools related to DPL on global and regional levels.
- Compile, review, and synthesize cases on the application of learning analytics and personalization of learning tools within digital learning platforms.
- Develop an analytical report on trends in digital learning platforms including guidelines on the application of learning analytics and personalization of learning in DPL targeted on different higher education stakeholders.
The language of all deliverables is English.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in pedagogics, digital humanities, social sciences or a related field. PhD is advantageous.
Work experience
- A minimum of five years of work experience in research on e-learning, digital technology use in education, digital pedagogy or related fields.
Skills and competencies
- Proven conceptual and analytical skills
- Excellent research skills
- Capacity to work independently and in a timely manner
- Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English.

- A Technical Proposal comprising 1) Statement indicating how the candidate’s qualifications and experience make them suitable for the assignment 2) Approach (methodology and detailed workplan) the candidate would adopt to carry out the assignment (maximum 4 pages).
- A Financial Proposal indicating the amount to be charged for the assignment, which should be quoted in USD.
