Mr. Dendev Badarch, Acting Director of UNESCO IITE, gave an interview for “Leader’s café” on YTN News Channel in South Korea . Mr. Dendev Badarch discussed with Prof. Dae-Joon Hwang, Secretary General of Korean Council for University Education and the Governing Board member of UNESCO IITE, the perspectives of cooperation between IITE and South Korea in the sphere of ICT use and ICT development in education.

Analytical survey «Recognizing the potential of ICT in early childhood education», developed within IITE project on ICTs in Early Childhood Care and Education, has been out of print in Russian. It contains review and and analysis of the existing literature in the area, best practice in ICT application in early childhood education, and recommendations for educators and parents on the balanced use of technologies with children. Being a unique publication in the area, it was highly appreciated by educational community involved in pre-school and primary school education. The book is now available in the English, Russian and Slovak languages.

IITE was invited by the European Agency for Development of Special Needs Education to participate in the ICT for Inclusion project. The project will build upon the findings of the research project jointly implemented by IITE and the European Agency in 2011. Practice Review on the use of ICT in special needs education was published in September 2011.

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on November 15, 2011, in view of improvement of quality of education at the UNESCO Associated schools by installation of the newest educational and information technologies, and assisting countries in developing gender-sensitive teaching and learning materials that promote the equal participation of women and men in society and at work, the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) in close cooperation with Cisco Systems, Inc. organized a joint training course “IT Essentials: PC Hardware and Software v4.0” for teachers of the UNESCO Associated schools of Moscow and Moscow Region, face-to-face mode of which took place from 12 till 17 December 2011 in the IITE premises (Moscow, Russian Federation).

The book “Open Educational Resources in Brazil: State-of-the-Art, Challenges and Prospects for Development and Innovation”(author – Andreia Inamorato dos Santos) has been out of print. This is the second IITE publication within the series of case studies summarizing best practices of OER development in non-English-speaking countries.

The international workshop on intellectual property rights (IPR) and Creative Commons (CC) licenses was held in the UNESCO IITE jointly with the UNESCO Moscow Office and the Institute of the Information Society on December 6, 2011.
The goal of the meeting was to discuss the legal aspects of CC licenses application in the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The official launching of Russian version of UNESCO ICT-CFT took place 1 December 2011 in Baku during IITE Conference "Teacher Competencies in Knowledge Society: Policy, Pedagogy, Social Skills".
The ICT Competency Framework for Teachers is aimed at helping countries to develop comprehensive national teacher ICT competency policies and standards, and should be seen as an important component of an overall ICT in Education Master Plan.

IT center for persons with visual impairments was established in Yerevan, the Republic of Armenia, within the partnership project of IITE and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The main purpose of this project is promoting inclusive policies and creation of accessible information and education environment by means of ICTs for visually impaired persons. The center was equipped with standard and specialized soft- and hardware for people with visual disabilities.

Knezek (Chief Executive Officer of International Society for Technology in Education, USA) and Prof. Stoyan Denchev (Rector of State University of Library Studies and Information Technologies, Bulgaria).
