As everyone has the right to be treated with respect, to live free from discrimination, coercion and abuse.

New UNESCO IITE publication is out of press 

A new publication UNESCO IITE publication “Future for Higher Education and ICT: Changes Due to the Use of Open Content” is fresh from the press. The publication summarizes the results of the Institute’s project “Access, Equity and Quality: Envisioning the Future of Higher Education in a Digital Age” implemented in Education (UNESCO IITE) in 2014-2016. The project was aimed to identify the current trends related to the use of open and online education and to bring evidence to the debate about the future changes expected due to the use of new approaches to teaching and learning, new technologies and new forms of content developed for higher education.

UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) invites all interested specialists to view the video featuring the lectures delivered by leading international experts in the area of open education and use of ICT in education. The video materials were recorded within the Series of Open Lectures "ICT in Education and Sustainable Development Goals: Innovation for Quality, Openness and Inclusion" held by UNESCO IITE in cooperation with the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation.

UNESCO IITE took part in the Zero Project Conference 2016

The Zero Project Conference 2016, convened by the Essl Foundation, the World Future Council and the European Foundation Centre at the United Nations Office in Vienna, Austria was held on 10-12 February 2016. The event, which gathered innovators from more than 70 countries, highlighted 98 innovative policies and practices concerning inclusive education and/or ICTs from around the world in 35 plenary sessions and workshops. UNESCO IITE was invited to participate in the the panel discussion devoted to accessible ICT and inclusive education.

GIZ, GFA and UNESCO present a new electronic course for health teachers and youth health workers  

The course consists of five modules, which provide comprehensive information about adolescent physical, emotional, psycho-social and sexual development, puberty, reproductive health, prevention of sexually transmitted infections including HIV and unplanned pregnancy, as well as on effective teaching approaches. Each module has educational videos, exercises, tests and references.

ICT in Education Prize Honours Projects from Costa Rica and Singapore

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova awarded the 2015 UNESCO-King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education to the Omar Dengo Foundation’s National Programme of Educational Informatics in Costa Rica and the Open Source Physics project developed by Singapore’s Ministry of Education during a ceremony at UNESCO Headquarters on 13 January 2015.

Training on ICT for persons with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan

In the framework of the joint project of UNESCO IITE/International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the IT center for persons with disabilities was established in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Two-days training seminar “Modern assistive technologies for persons with disabilities” was carried out on the basis of the new IT center on 7-8 December 2015. The training programme covered both policy and practice issues with many international good practice examples.
